WOMEN'S BRAIDS

It is a fact that the hair of the men and women of Africa is dry, curly and thick and therefore difficult to comb. However, the tradition of braiding hair goes beyond pure aesthetic purpose. 
For many African tribes, the soul is in the head, so they take special care of it. 
Braids also provide information, since according to the way they are combed they indicate the marital status and age of 
a woman.
In some tribes hair must be covered during menstruation, as it is considered an impure period of time, so that women covered with scarves.
